Kee Guard is a modular free-standing roof edge fall protection system that does not penetrate the roof membrane. It has been fully tested to EN and OSHA compliance, and when correctly installed, ensures the safety of anyone who has to access a flat roof. No specialised work at height training required for the users.

Unique system

Each system’s unique design provides permanent edge protection without the need to mechanically fix the system through the roofing membrane or building’s structure. Their simple design provides unrivaled strength, stability and safety and overcomes the problems associated with traditional systems such as having to drill and puncture the roof membrane which can lead to potential penetrative water damage and noise disturbance during installation.

Durable system

Kee Safety's guardrail connections are supplied with a galvanised finish carried out to BS EN ISO 1461 and ASTM A53: Hot Dip Galvanised Coatings Specification and Testing Methods, giving an average coating of between 65-85 microns. All cast clamps have Thread Koat applied to all tapped holes. All set screws are carbon steel and have Kee Koat protection applied to ensure minimal maintenance.

Versatile system

All systems have been specially designed to fit any shape and size of flat and pitched roofs (up to 10° pitch), even circular designs. The system can also cope with changes in levels, roof falls and difficult details such as ductwork passing over the roof edge and cable trays/plant mounted at the roof edge. The flexibility of the counterweight & Kee Klamp design allows the systems to be used on plant congested or complex detailed roofs.

All fittings are galvanized to EN ISO 1461 and equipped with case hardened steel setscrewsare. For harsher environments we offer an aluminium option.

Easy to install

Minimum components, including unique open style fitting, allows for quick installation which keeps costs down.

Constructed with simple tools

No welding, bending or threading on site and no special tools are needed for construction. Recycled PVC weights are easy to handle and position which reduces installation time.

Modular flexible design

Sections can be easily added or taken down. This allows for reconfiguration on site if needed to suit the new edge protection requirements or for reconstruction elswhere.

Environmentally friendly

Bases are made from recycled PVC. Steel railing and components can be fully recycled.

- Are toeboards available on the Kee Guard system?
  
  Yes, a toeboard can be supplied at the customer’s request.
- Can Kee Guard be used as an anchor?
  
  The Kee Guard system is not intended as an anchor and cannot be used as an anchor or tie off point to support any workers or equipment suspended off the roof.
- Can the Kee Guard system be painted?
  
  Kee Guard components can be painted by the customer before or after installation. Kee Guard components are also available powder coated in any RAL color at the customer’s request (extra charges apply for powder coating). Powder coating takes place prior to shipment.
- Does the Kee Guard system comply with the current USA and EU safety regulations?
  
  The Kee Guard system has been tested to comply with and exceeds USA OSHA codes and EU EN standards.
- Does the Kee Guard system offer advantages over a horizontal life line system or harness system?
  
  Yes. Kee Guard Roof Edge Fall Protection Railing System is a passive, collective fall protection system that is preferred by safety consultants. Lives have been lost in work-related falls resulting from workers not using harnesses properly. The Kee Guard system removes the potential of that risk. Harness systems require training and proper and regular use. The embedded anchor for a harness system could later leak and cause costly water damage. The worry of not having enough harnesses for rooftop workers is eliminated.
- How do I buy the Kee Guard system?

- Is Kee Guard more expensive than using a harness/tie-off system?
  
  When you consider the ongoing cost of training and system re-certification, the installed cost of Kee Guard is competitive with horizontal life line systems.
- Is Kee Guard required by law?
  
  Building owners and employers are responsible for protecting their workers from any hazard encountered while on the job. In jobs requiring access to roofs for maintenance purposes, fall protection is usually required if workers will be exposed to a fall hazard.
- Does Kee Guard need to be inspected or maintained after installation?
  
  Once properly installed, the Kee Guard system is considered a permanent installation. We recommend that any fall protection system be inspected on a routine basis for maximum liability protection for the building owner.
- Can the Kee Guard system be installed on a sloped roof?
  
  Free-standing Kee Guard systems can be used on any style of flat roofs with a slope up to 10 degrees. Kee Guard option designed for metal profile and standing seam roofs can be installed on pitched cladded roofs up to 45°.
- How long does it take to install Kee Guard? Are special skills or tools required?
  
  With the use of the Kee Guard open style fitting (standard), two workers with minimal experience and simple hand tools can be installed up to twice as fast as most other systems. All materials should be delivered to the rooftop using a hoist, crane or other mechanical methods. No power tools are required.
- Is Kee Guard intended for temporary or permanent installation?
  
  The system is intended as a permanent fall protection solution, however since it is a modular system, the system can be disassembled and moved if needed or for maintenance tasks.
- Are all the materials used in the Kee Guard system protected from corrosion?
  
  Galvanised tube is used for vertical, horizontal and counterbalance supports and Kee Klamp fittings are all galvanised at our factory. The grub screws used to assemble the fittings and tubes together are all protected by Kee Koat^® which is a special corrosion-resistant coating. We also offer a Kee Guard aluminium option, with fittings and tube made from aluminium. Kee Guard fall protection system is engineered using special fittings and is designed to withstand a full range of outdoor conditions.
- How does the Kee Guard system stay on the roof if it isn’t bolted through the roof membrane?
  
  The system employs a tested and proven counterbalance system, the Kee Guard system (Patents in effect) is a roof edge railing fall protection system that keeps the workers on the roof without endangering the roof membrane itself.
- What prevents the counterweights from sinking into tar/gravel roof surfaces in hot climates?
  
  Each KeeGuard counterbalance weighs only 13.3 Kg and has an insulating rubber pad on the underside which is installed at the factory. Each counterbalance is spaced sufficiently to make the entire system deliver less weight per square foot than the average worker who might have to walk on the roof.
